How do I get started?

In order to train at BRX, you must complete a 1-on-1 assessment so that we can individualize your training program. Please send us an email at info@BRXperformance.com to schedule your assessment.

Do you only train baseball players?

Absolutely not! Just in the last year, we’ve helped a long jumper improve his top jump by over a foot to set a school record, a swimmer improve her personal-best backstroke time by 10 seconds and swim without shoulder pain for the first time in years, and a track & field athlete improve her pole vault height by two feet! The beauty of making individualized programs for each athlete who trains with us is that we can formulate a training program unique to each athlete’s sport, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and the findings of our 1-on-1 assessment.

What happens in an assessment?

The BRX Performance assessment is less of a performance assessment (vertical jump, throwing velocity, 40-yard dash, etc) and more of a mobility and movement assessment. After taking a brief tour of the facility, we’ll first sit down to chat about goals, training experience, injury history, and more. Next, clients are taken through a mobility screen to measure their quality of movement, where they have restrictions, red flags for possible injuries, and more. Lastly, clients are taken through an abbreviated 1-on-1 personal training session so we can get a gauge of their current strength level. Before you take off, one of our staff members will discuss online scheduling, payments, and how we’ll move forward.

When I try to log into my account, why do I see a different business’ logo at the top left instead of the BRX logo?

Many area sports facilities use EZFacility, our third-party scheduling and payment software. Clicking on the “Account” button on the BRX website takes you to the general EZFacility log-in page. Your computer might think “Hey, I’ve been here before!” and automatically bring up your username and password from a different EZFacility account you created in the past for another business. It is important that you erase this username and password and manually type in your BRX username and password each time you attempt to log in. If this does not resolve the issue, please give us an email at info@BRXperformance.com or call at 414.219.1633 for assistance.

What do you recommend for in-season training for baseball and softball players?

During this time of the year, we are frequently asked the question, “How should we train during the season?” As is so often the answer…it depends. Have you reached your goals? At what point in the year will you need to be at your peak performance? Are you playing for the high school in the spring but the summer season is where you’re more likely to be recruited?

Without a doubt, the best results we’ve seen to date (82 to 89mph in three months, 83 to 88 mph in four months, etc) have occurred in athletes who trained during their season when their body was in baseball/softball shape. Of course, we’re not going to have anyone deadlift 400 pounds the day before they have a game – we adjust the training protocol in-season to allow the athlete to perform at an optimal level.

As far as injury prevention – more competition and game action paired with abandoning your training is the recipe for poor performance and increased injury risk, hence why 57 percent of overhead athletes miss time with an injury each season. One of our pitchers, who has improved his fastball from 72 to 84 MPH in the last year and trained in-season, had this to say last spring:

“Every single pitcher on my team is complaining of elbow or shoulder pain, but my arm feels unbelievable.”

Moreover, training in-season helps you avoid losing what you worked so hard for in the offseason and starting back at square one the following offseason.

Although being at BRX for partner-assisted arm care drills is the perfect world scenario, by no means do we believe every training session has to occur at BRX. With schedules so sporadic, if an athlete can train once or twice per week at BRX and once or twice on their own, they’ll be performing at their best late in the season when many of their teammates’ bodies are breaking down.

Do you offer memberships?

Currently, BRX offers training discounts for 6 and 12-month membership agreements. To learn more, please email us at info@BRXperformance.com or call 414.219.1633.

What is the “semi-private” setting?

After completing an assessment, all clients are on-boarded with their first session as a 1-on-1 to get them comfortable with our staff and their new individualized program. After their initial 1-on-1, they will train in the semi-private (small group) training environment with no more than a 6 to 1 client to trainer ratio. It’s not a “class” format where everyone is doing the same thing – rather each athlete in the gym is training on their own unique program at their own pace with our highly qualified staff instructing and assisting them. This approach allows an athlete of any experience level to work at a pace and level that is comfortable for them.

When will I get results?

We’ve helped clients improve their 60-yard dash by two-tenths in two weeks, another set a school record long jump after five months of training, and another touch 100 mph on the radar gun after an entire offseason of training, but you’ll never be promised a “BRX guarantee.” One thing we’ve learned in the last 18 months is that these results are being attained by the athletes who come into the gym with a determination and drive that is unmatched by most of their peers. If you consistently give 110 percent effort, train three-four times per week between BRX and home or another gym near you, and believe in yourself, you can expect to see your athleticism and performance improve relatively quickly.

How long does a training session last?

Some clients take two hours, some take 55 minutes. Individualizing programs to each client’s unique needs means sessions will be a different length for everyone. For younger athletes, sessions generally last around 60-75 minutes. For high-school aged athletes, sessions usually last between 90 and 120 minutes.

Who will be working with my son/daughter?

In the semi-private setting, clients are supervised by several BRX trainers on any given training session. We think it’s important to have multiple sets of eyes on each client, as each of our qualified staff members has different backgrounds and bring something unique to the table.

Why do the sessions in my monthly training package expire after 40 days?

There are several reasons why sessions expire 40 days after your first session of a new package. First, we place each client getting a “personalized touch” on every session above all else – therefore we significantly limit how many new clients we accept into the gym. Figuring out exactly how to limit new client intake is difficult if current clients come less often than they initially planned on when there are those who would gladly train with BRX if given the option.

Next, BRX sets expiration dates on packages because we pride ourselves on getting results for our clients. If a client doesn’t train on a consistent basis, they aren’t going to get results. Their friends (prospective BRX clients) will know they train with BRX and aren’t getting results, which will make them less likely to pursue training with us.

Having said this, we understand that life gets in the way sometimes. This is why we give you 40 days to get through your monthly training package instead of 30. If something out of your control comes up (sickness, traveling, last-minute practice change, etc), this 10-day buffer should help you get through your package.

Will BRX show each client what to do outside of BRX?

BRX highly encourages each client ages 14 and up to train three or four times per week. We understand that training three or four times per week at BRX isn’t a feasible option for everyone. If you train twice per week or more with BRX, we will create a program free of charge that you can execute at another gym or at home and demonstrate these exercises to you when you’re at BRX.
